I'm entertaining a trade with a guy. He has a Bushmaster factory complete 11.5 inch upper with a 5.5 in flash hider pinned and welded or however Bushmaster installs them.

It's a factor complete upper with a factor Bushmaster BCG installed. This upper has the HBAR barrel.

I have a computer he would like to trade for. The computer is roughly worth $650.00 dollars. I did not pay for this computer, it was given to me as part of another deal so I have no money invested.

He wants to trade even. He wants to spend no money out of pocket. He tells me the upper is used very little I see no signs of heavy usage or wear.

Can someone give me a rough value of this upper? I tried to look around but I can't find much on them.

My plan was to split the 5.5 inch flash hider off and form one a factory Bushmaster lower and build a complete 11.5 inch Entry Carbine out of it. I know a dealer with factory Bushmaster lowers for $50 bucks and the other parts would be around $100, so for a $800.00 dollar on paper investment, not counting the stamp, I could have this as a complete rifle.

As I don't plan to use the computer, I'm not loosing out there but I could re-sell it and buy something else too I suppose. I see you can get a complete stripped Daniel Defense URG for $450.00 dollars, without the BCG, the DD BCG is another $200.00 so that is basically $650 too.

That would be my step-son actually! This is going to be his first AR build but I'm not sure how good of a deal those uppers are so any info would be much appreciated.

Bushmasters webpage has this listed at $610.00 dollars, when in-stock.

The XM177E2 clone uppers don't seem to sell very well, especially used. $ 300 tops would be my best guess in this market. A shame, because the XM177E2 faux flash hider is great at redirecting noise away from the shooter. A major issue with short barreled ARs. Try it out before you remove the flash hider. You should find that Bushmaster pinned the flash hider on, then welded the ends of the pin. A close inspection of the flash hider should show two offset points in the vicinity of the threads with a slightly different texture or color.
